Patients and manual claim submission

How to add patients, attach insurance, and submit claims manually from the Taiga dashboard.

Written by Nanda Guntupalli

Most claims flow into Taiga automatically from your EHR. The Patients page exists for the manual path: patients you add by hand so you can submit a claim directly from the dashboard.

The Patients page

Adding patients

  • New patient — add one patient with their demographics and insurance.

  • Bulk upload — bring in many patients at once from a file.

Search the list by name or MRN. Each row shows the patient's name, MRN, date of birth, and sex.

Submitting a claim manually

From a patient's row (or their detail page), click New claim. You'll enter the visit details — diagnosis and procedure codes, date of service, rendering provider, and place of service — and submit.

Two things to know before you submit:

  • Submitting is real. A claim marked billable is submitted to the payer right away — there's no separate "send" step later. Review codes, payer, and insurance before confirming.

  • "Not billable" is a write-off, not a way to save a draft. Only use it for visits you've deliberately decided not to bill.

After submission the claim appears on the Claims page like any other, with its status and money tracked the same way.
