Insurance payments land in your bank account as deposits, and the payers explain them with remits. The Bank Reconciliation page connects the two: a read-only feed of your bank's deposit activity that Taiga matches against your remits, so you can see at a glance that every remittance actually hit the bank.
Connecting your bank
Click Connect bank and sign in through Plaid, the secure service Taiga uses to read bank activity. Connect the operating account where your insurance payments are deposited.
The connection is strictly read-only:
Taiga only sees transactions — it can never move money or make changes at your bank.
Account numbers are not collected.
You can connect more than one institution with Connect another, and Manage accounts lets you change which accounts at an institution are shared. If a connection shows Reconnect needed (banks periodically require re-authentication), click Reconnect and sign in again — nothing else is lost.
Adding routing numbers
Each connected account has a field for its routing number. Filling it in lets Taiga send that account's deposits to the billing system for reconciliation — deposits from accounts without a routing number aren't uploaded. Your routing number is on your checks or your bank's website; it identifies the bank, not your account.
If your practice bills under more than one provider NPI, there's a one-time setup step on our side before uploads can be enabled — message us from the dashboard and we'll finish it.
Recent deposits
The Recent deposits table lists the posted credits Taiga has read from your connected accounts: the posted date, the bank's description, the bank reference number, and the amount. Deposits appear after the connected bank finishes its first transaction update; use Refresh on a connection to pull in any updates your bank has already made available. (Banks publish activity on their own schedule, so a deposit can take a little while to show up even after it posts.)
Where reconciliation shows up
Matching happens automatically. On the Remits page, each remittance carries a reconciliation status:
Reconciled — the remit has been matched to a bank deposit.
Unreconciled — no matching deposit has been found yet.
An unreconciled remit usually just means the deposit hasn't posted or synced yet. Occasionally a deposit appears in the feed but can't be matched — for example, when the bank's description doesn't carry a usable check or trace number. If a remit stays unreconciled well past its check date, message us from the dashboard with the check number and we'll investigate.
